Five signs it is time to repaint your facade
Hairline cracks, blisters, chalking walls: the signals that never lie, and why waiting costs more.
A facade ages slowly, then very fast. Spotting the first signs of wear lets you act at the right moment, while a simple repaint is still enough.
The five signals
1. Chalking: run your hand along the wall; if it comes back white, the paint's binder is dead and no longer protects.
2. Spider-web hairline cracks: harmless in appearance, they let water in, which freezes in winter and blows the render apart.
3. Blisters and flaking: the paint no longer adheres, often because of moisture coming from inside the wall.
4. Green or black marks: moss and pollution settle into a coating that has become porous.
5. Faded colour: beyond looks, a washed-out shade signals a film worn down by UV.
